Autonomous MIT Plane Turns a Parking Garage Into Its Own Personal Slalom Course [Video]

Image
Aug 11, 2012 10:00 AM   When it comes to flying around indoors, helicopters and their ilk get all the attention. That's generally because your typical plane is best suited for flying forward fast, not "painstakingly avoiding obstacles." This drone from MIT is an exception to that rule. Using a pretty standard Intel Atom processor, some on-board sensors, and some sophisticated calculations, this plane designed by MIT's Robust Robotics Group is able to dodge obstacles with ease, even at high speeds. It'd be impressive enough to watch this sucker cruise through a closed course, but to really prove its mettle, they brought it to a parking garage, where it completed a seven minute flight at 22 miles per hour, covering roughly three miles in distance, and coming within inches of collision. Take that, rotors! [MIT] View the original article here This post was made using the Auto Blogging Software from WebMagnates.org This line will not appear when posts are made aft...

This Race Course Set Is Your Change-It-Up Deal of the Day [Dealzmodo]

Race car tracks have been around for ages, and sometimes you have to change things up to stay relevant. Lucky for race car tracks, they're really easy to change up! Especially this Race Course Set that configures into 263 different layouts. I haven't played with it myself, but the loops in the image look amazing, and if it's as flexible as they say then that would make for some really fantastic track configurations. Considering this track has been discounted by 23%, you could buy a few of them, hook them altogether and make an awesome video like this if you wanted. • 17.3" MSI GE70 0ND-033US Gaming Laptop, Ivy Bridge Quad Core i7-3610QM, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 660M 2GB for $1100 plus $9 shipping (normally $1200 {Savings of $100 / 8% off} - use and this form) • 15.6" Acer Aspire V3-571-6800 Laptop Intel Core i5-2450M 2.50 GHz 4GB DDR3 500GB HDD for $499 with free shipping • 15.6" Asus X53U-RH21 AMD E-450, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 6320G for $350 plus $9 shi...

Epic Inflatable Obstacle Course Puts Bounce Houses To Shame [Inflatable]

Image
Jul 21, 2012 5:00 PM   If you've got $13,000 burning a hole in your pocket, and a desire to have the most kick-ass backyard in the neighbourhood, no swingset or even tree house is going to outdo this mind-blowing 1,850 square foot inflatable obstacle course. The Adrenaline Rush Extreme—as it's been dubbed—features side-by-side lanes chock full of challenges that will have competitors crawling through tunnels, racing down slides, or battling their way past various inflatable obstacles. The entire structure is kept standing by three industrial fans running constantly, but just because it's inflatable don't expect it to be easy to transport. At 1,500 pounds you'll need a hefty ride to haul it around, not to mention a UPS delivery person strong enough to get it off the truck.
