The Fake NY Times WikiLeaks Op-Ed That Fooled Pretty Much Everybody [Pranks]

Image
Jul 29, 2012 11:00 AM   For eight years, Bill Keller was the Executive Editor of the New York Times. Today, he's a full-time writer for the paper of record, and when he talks, people listen. In fact, it turns out people listen even when it's not actually him talking. Like, say, in this deviously clever—and quite realistic!—fake editorial, in which a fake Bill Keller gives a fake rousing defense of WikiLeaks. It's a charming piece of deception; the voice is close enough to Keller's (and even borrows some direct quotes from the victim, as AllThingsD reports), the background looks enough like the real nytimes.com that you'd be forgiven for missing the absent NYT favicon and the incorrect URL format. Earliest iPhone 4 and iPad Prototypes Look Pretty Ridiculous Today [Apple]

One early iPhone 4 prototype shows edges and angles galore, with diagonal corners, and one of the iPad prototypes even has a kickstand. Yes. A kickstand. You've got to see these. The pictures of these iPhone and iPad prototypes were found in court documents by BuzzFeed and the Verge. Not all the prototypes were strange though. Some prototypes actually look like they'd be real products. Above, there's an iPod Nano-inspired iPhone 4 prototype made with brushed aluminum and complete with rounded corners. Another iPhone prototype labeled n90 actually looks amazing—impossibly thin (though thicker in the middle) and skinny, it looks very much like a delightful candybar. Other prototypes look lik...

Google's First Nexus 7 Commercial Is Pretty Adorable [Video]

Image
Jul 23, 2012 6:58 AM   Google's Nexus 7 tablet is so popular that the 16GB model is sold out on the Google Play store. And that was without any commercials behind it. Here's the Nexus 7's first—about camping. Yes, the Nexus is Wi-Fi only, but hey, the video accounts for that, sort of. Or you could carry a hotspot, or tether, or whatever . What matters is this is adorable.
