For years now, the U.S. Air Force's F-22 Raptors have been relentlessly plagued by some mystery flaw that keeps threatening to suffocate pilots. The previous best guess had something to do with glue but now the USAF is saying it's found the culprit: vests. According to Air Force Major General Charles Lyon, who presented the findings to the Pentagon, a faulty valve connected to pilots' Combat Edge upper pressure garment caused the vests to inflate too early. The vests, designed to control pilots' breathing at high altitudes and high speeds, were triggering before the extreme G-forces for which they were intended. "It's like putting a corset around your chest," Lyon said. The vests in question were also used by F-15 and F-16 pilots starting in 1992, but were abandoned in 2004 when officials decided the vests weren't helping as much as expected. In reality, they are the oldest stars in our very own Milky Way, captured by Hubble. This beautiful group of stars is the last globular cluster in the Messier Catalogue, discovered by French astronomer Pierre Méchain in 1782. Known as Messier 107, it "is one of more than 150 globular star clusters found around the disc of the Milky Way." You can find them about 20,900 light-years away, in the in the constellation Ophiuchus. But instead of placing a subtle set of buttons on the cord, Denon's new AH-D400 Urban Raver cans feature a large easy-to-access volume knob right on your ear. It certainly makes it easy to quickly adjust the volume without having to fumble or feel your way over a set of tiny buttons, but the problem is, that knob is just as easy for someone else to mess with too. But is that a reason to completely dismiss a pair of headphones that also come with 50mm drivers and a built-in amp for added bass, and work with an accompanying iOS/Android app for configuring custom EQs? The malicious tweets come in two varieties, both in the form of @ mentions. There are ones that ask "It's you on photo?" paired with a dangerous link, and also ones that ask the vaguer, but less grammatically jarring question "It's about you?" also with a link. Don't click; it's not about you. Both variations are particularly bad news because unlike normal Twitter spam which sends you off to some extremely sketchy Internet store or something, these links will load your computer up with the Blackhole exploit kit. Once the exploit is on your computer, it'll index all the vulnerabilities it can find in your browser plugins and the like, and then set you up with a customized set of malware just for you. But will Salomon's new Sense Hydro S-Lab gloves—which strap a water bottle to each hand for easy access—make it easier or downright impossible? The set won't be available until September, but it looks like they use a pair of soft plastic bottles so they can be folded up and reduced in size as they're drained. Which is a lot easier than trying to run with a pair of empty rigid plastic bottles strapped to your hands. The design also lets you squeeze every last drop of moisture out of the bottles using just a single hand. The result is the Tasse, a ceramic cup wrapped in an insulating foam sleeve that helps keep the coffee hot, but more importantly, prevents customers from burning their hands. But while they're cheaper than a cellphone, they're far less convenient to use. Since there's no keyboard, voice recognition, or even a touchscreen, messages have to be slowly spelled out using just a set of three buttons. And because they're limited to just ten characters, it only encourages kids to use their ridiculous shortforms that's only serving to create a nation of terrible spellers. Nearly every Twitter user has fallen victim to spam at one point — there’s no argument that it’s annoying and detrimental. But not all of it is bad — in fact, some of those spambots are not bots at all. There are parody accounts that will filter through specific topics and respond to unsuspecting users, like @THEUNlVERSE. There are still spam accounts using automated third-party applications too.
