Watch Out: "We Know Your House" Uses Twitter to Find Out Where You Live and Then Posts It Online [Psa]

Image
You've been living with social media for long enough that you probably know most of the do's and don'ts. Don't post pictures of your debit card, or of your billionaire boss shirtless. But be careful when you use the word "home" too; people are watching. WeKnowYourHouse.com is a recently launched website with an apt name. Basically, the site scans Twitter for tweets with location data that also make a reference to "home". From there, they can take the latitude and longitude, plop it in to Google Maps and get a reasonable estimate of your address. Lastly, they plot it on a map. It's creepy as all hell, but all just "a social experiment" according to the site. Right now, all the most recent addresses they've posted seem to be in Ireland and the U.K., but there wouldn't be anything keeping them from expanding, or keeping anyone else from copying their idea. They offer you the option to "opt-out" on the site, but you have...

Watch a Samsung Galaxy SIII and an iPhone 4S Compete in a "Get Dragged Behind a Car" Test [Video]

Image
Aug 11, 2012 5:00 PM   Samsung and Apple are going head to head in court right now, so doesn't it make sense for the Galaxy S III and the iPhone 4S to go head to head behind a speeding car? OK, maybe it doesn't follow, but it's fun to watch. This is the first ever "Drag Race Scratch Test" in which YouTuber aperfectgalaxy submits both phones to dragging hell and sees which comes out the least demolished. On top of the whole phone-dragging thing, our host is delightful, even if his footage is jittery as hell and makes you feel like you've just had 16 cups of coffee too many. How to Watch Porn Online and Get Away with It [How To]

Image
A man's home is his castle; his porn collection, his concubine. You're going to want to keep your secret lover locked away, far from prying, judgmental eyes. Here's how to ensure your spank bank is as secure as the Tower of London. Unless you've hit puberty in just the last six weeks, chances are you've already got a stash. The first order of business is organization. Gather up the various bits of erotica tucked about your hard drive and dump them all into a single nasty folder. Subdivide this folder by media type, alphabetically, by depraved sex act, whatever. Next, come up with a naming scheme—sufficiently obfuscated, but not indecipherable. A simple keyword search could immediately blow the lid off your entire Busty Asian Schoolgirl Midget Interracial Gangbang collection. Instead, devise a coding scheme—BASMIG 1, BASMIG 2, and on through 27 or whatever. Subtle and innocuous. Finally, you can encrypt your stash by creating a password-protected secured drive image...

Google Is Just Full of Crap [Watch This]

Image
Aug 7, 2012 9:00 PM   You know what happens when Google announces a new product. People freak out. People claim Google is changing the world. People praise its openness and don't be evil mantra and that the company is just SO good. And then you know what happens when that actual Google product comes out? No one cares. It doesn't change anything except add to the growing landfill of crappy products. In short, Google promises a lot but rarely deliver. Or as College Humor puts it in this video, Google is full of crap. Sure Google Glasses sounds awesome. And so does self-driving cars. But those things aren't close to real yet. Hoverboards and Wolverine blades sound awesome too. Watch This: The Making of the Iconic Pressed Chair [Video]

Image
Aug 3, 2012 8:40 PM   The complex simplicity in which Harry Thaler's Pressed Chair is created is quite incredible to see. The design—clearly one of great planning and prototyping—is clean, modern, seamless. Its construction a feat of technological design ingenuity. Watch and see. Watch 4,000 People Silently Stage an Olympic-Sized Water Gun Fight [Video]

Image
Jul 30, 2012 12:20 PM   If you're not big into the summer Olympics because track and field just doesn't get you going, infamous pranksters Improv Everywhere have a nice alternative for you. Their latest MP3 experiment takes on the Olympic games in a characteristically bewildering style. Over 4,000 participants showed up at New York City's Governor's Island on July 15th to participate in this year's MP3 experiment, the 9th of its kind. Donning headphones and simultaneously taking commands from the same pre-recorded omnipotent voice, pseudo-Olympians took part in several ridiculous games which included implements like bed-sheets and time-honored skills like water-marksmanship. The Improv Everywhere Games may not have had their own torch, or medals, but they were on tape-delay. And that's how the professionals do it, right? To Stream or Not to Stream: How Will You Watch the Olympics? [Chatroom]

Image
Jul 27, 2012 10:00 AM   The 2012 Summer Olympics kick into full gear tomorrow, which means there will be a million and one events happening concurrently. Thanks to the magic of the internet, we have the ability to watch pretty much any event we want, whenever we want. On one hand, choice is great, and the ability to have multiple events on multiple screens is what sports fans dream of. On the other hand, having only one screen on allows you to really immerse yourself in the drama of an event. Plus, sports in HD are so beautiful. So how do you plan to watch the Olympics? Stream only? TV only? Both? How To Watch Every Second of the Olympics (Updated) [Olympics]

Image
In 1996, 176.5 hours of the Olympics were broadcast in the U.S. This year? Try 5,535 hours across NBC's channels and sites alone. Holy crap, how are you going to watch all of that? Don't worry, there are ways. This is a guide for U.S. users (I know, I wish we were based in French-Polynesia, too), but a lot of this will apply regardless of where you are. In the U.S., NBC has exclusive rights to live broadcasting the Olympics. If you have a cable or dish subscription that includes MSNBC and CNBC, well, the Olympic world is your Olympic oyster. Congratulations, you have access to everything, and it's super easy. NBC's many networks will basically be transforming into Olympics coverage stations for the next few weeks. So you can watch all of that, but that's only the beginning. NBCOlympics.com is a massive orgy of content. Not only is it the best way to find out what's going to be broadcast and when, but you'll have access to live streams of every event as it h...

If You Need a Dedicated Watch Safe, You Probably Won't Mind This One's $88,000 Price Tag [Overkill]

Image
Jul 22, 2012 5:00 PM   Designed to complement the design of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's famous Barcelona chair, Döttling's new Liberty Barcelona Watch Safe is targeted at those who can afford the finer things in life. Like $5,000 chairs, and $88,000 safes designed to only hold timepieces. Before you spit-take on that price tag, keep in mind that this safe not only protects a valuable watch collection from the sticky fingers of the other 99 percent, it will also keep up to 12 pieces perpetually wound while they're stored inside. I think most of the one percent would agree that makes this a real bargain—or at least those who know what the word bargain means. But if you're interested you better act fast, since just 29 of these 661 pound special edition behemoths are being produced.
