Earliest iPhone 4 and iPad Prototypes Look Pretty Ridiculous Today [Apple]

Jul 26, 2012 6:30 PM   The iPhone 4 and iPad we know today are gadgetry in the extreme—digital pieces of paper, if you will. Nothing garish, nothing in excess. And that's mostly true in their prototypes! But some of these leaked early iPhone and iPad prototypes? They're bonkers. One early iPhone 4 prototype shows edges and angles galore, with diagonal corners, and one of the iPad prototypes even has a kickstand. Yes. A kickstand. You've got to see these. The pictures of these iPhone and iPad prototypes were found in court documents by BuzzFeed and the Verge. Not all the prototypes were strange though. Some prototypes actually look like they'd be real products. Above, there's an iPod Nano-inspired iPhone 4 prototype made with brushed aluminum and complete with rounded corners. The E.T. Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Packaging Is Completely Ridiculous and Awesome [Video]

Jul 26, 2012 4:20 PM   It's been 30 years since the world's most loveable extra-terrestrial made its debut on the silver screen, and to celebrate the anniversary the film is being released on Blu-ray with what has to be some of the most over-the-top and brilliant re-packaging ever. It seems the film studios have finally found the perfect solution to combating the online distribution and sharing of their films. They simply make up the lost revenue with asininely over-elaborate special/limited/anniversary/collectors editions of films that have been released countless times before on other mediums. But this set seems to go above and beyond the call of duty by playing snippets of John Williams' soundtrack when opened, complete with a miniature E.T. that pops out below. Totally worth $140, and it of course includes all the versions of the films that have been released and re-released to date.
